Dynamic Deconstruction
Drea Hernandez and Mad Candy met in San Diego in 2013 only to learn that they'd recently both graduated from Columbia College Chicago and had lived a stone's throw away from one another on the North Side. The two bonded immediately over their similar tastes in music and lack of tolerance for misogyny both within the industry and without.
While they quickly became the best of friends and remain so to this day (despite now living over 1,000 miles away from one another), they didn't start creating music together until 12 years into their friendship, when Mad shared that she was getting back into vocals after years of not singing. Almost immediately, Drea sent her the instrumental foundations of what would become their first single, "GATES." Mad wrote and recorded the vocals in a woodshed on her parents' property and sent them back to Drea, establishing the formula for their long-distance creative process.
Their penchant for living and creating outside of the defined constructs of gender and religion combined with the darker sensibilities of their musical tastes has resulted in The Oblivion Chapel. Their first two singles "GATES" and "Hell Or Texas" were released in October of 2025 and are available everywhere.

With a combined following of over 250,000 across TikTok and Instagram, Mad has successfully carved out a unique niche for herself with her series "Hell Hound & Mortal" and "Sinfluencer," both of which loosely revolve around religious deconstruction through cynicism, history, and dark comedic narrative. For years, she neglected her musical inclinations, believing her voice wasn't feminine enough for consumption. With encouragement from her followers, she's made the conscious decision to explore her natural range and dive into darker creative expressions through The Oblivion Chapel.

With over 20 years of experience as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and trained audio engineer, Drea has spent most of their career behind the scenes—tour managing, mixing live sound, and bringing other artists' visions to life. While their professional work kept them in the technical realm, they occasionally explored their own creative impulses through short music clips under the moniker Semi Lovato. The Oblivion Chapel represents a deliberate shift from the shadows into the spotlight, channeling decades of musical expertise and production knowledge into a project that finally prioritizes their own artistic voice and darker creative inclinations.
